It has been 30 years since National Lampoon's
Vacation hit theaters and the idea to reboot the franchise has been kicked around Hollywood for years now.
The cast of the iconic film have already come together as part of Entertainment Weekly's annual Reunions issue last year as well as`
Chevy Chase and
Beverly D'Angelo and some of the many actors who have played the Griswold kids over the years reprised their roles for some Old Navy commercials (below).
Well, the stars of long-running Vacation series have finally entered into talks to reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen for New Line Cinema's reboot, tentatively titled
Vacation.
They would join
Ed Helms and
Christina Applegate in the upcoming comedy with Horrible Bosses writers
John Francis Daley and
Jonathan Goldstein on board to direct from a script they penned.
The new story will follow Clark's son Rusty, who is all grown-up with a dysfunctional family of his own to torment on a road trip, one stop of which will be visiting with his hilarious oft-in-peril parents, which means Chase and D'Angelo's roles will likely be more in the cameo range.
The new Vacation sequel starts filming in July.
