Drew Pearce To Write Runaways
Drew Pearce will be in charge for writing the adaptation of the Marvel superhero series Runaways for director Pete Sollett.
No surprise, especially if we know that Pearce is best known as the creator of No Heroics, the 2008 British comedy series about a group of superhero friends who have to deal with “everyday tasks including grocery shopping and enduring traffic jams”.
So, we know that Runaways is an award-winning comic book series published by Marvel Comic, created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, and the series debuted in April of 2003.
It follows a group of teenagers who go on the run after discovering their parents are superpowered villains who belong to a crime syndicate called The Pride. The kids also find they have inherited their parents' skills and abilities.
Unlike other super hero teams, they are featured with more girls than guys. Actually, at one point, there was only one male on the team with four other females, prompting other groups to refer to him as “the girl's getaway man.”
Back in April Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist director Peter Sollett was chosen to direct the film about teenage superheroes, and now we know that Drew Pearce has been chosen to adapt the comics. So, maybe this is not going to be some cute teenage movie after all?
We'll keep an eye on Runaways. Stay with us!
