Iron Man 3 Scribe Heads To MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5
British sitcom writer Drew Pearce is no stranger to superheroes as he co-wrote the script for Iron Man 3. Pearce has also rewritten Guillermo del Toro's upcoming Mecha thriller, Pacific Rim and he is polishing the script for a reboot of Godzilla too.
Now comes word that Paramount have hired Drew Pearce to come in and draft the fifth Mission: Impossible's screenplay.
Tom Cruise will star as agent Ethan Hunt and co-produce as well, while J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot will assist along with David Ellison's Skydance Productions.
Cruise's Jack Reacher collaborator, Christopher McQuarrie, remains the top choice to direct the Mission: Impossible 5 movie.
Cruise is expected to shoot the fifth installment in the fall after filming Guy Ritchie‘s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. at Warner Bros, just in time for Christmas next year.
Details of the plot are being kept under wraps.
Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol was a massive hit and earned over $680 million worldwide, while the franchise has scored more than $2 billion at the box office. M:I 4 also became the highest-grossing film starring Tom Cruise, so he's back for more Mission: Impossible.
