Kit Harington, also known as Jon Snow in HBO's hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones, is in talks to star in Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Pompeii.
Period disaster movie Pompeii will be reportedly based on the world's most famous volcanic eruption that buried the ancient city in 79 A.D. during the Roman Empire.
The film centers on Milo (Harington), the slave of a shipping tycoon who plans to buy his freedom and marry his master's daughter. However, she's already been promised to a corrupt Roman senator, while he's been sold to another owner in Naples. Just when things can't get any worse, Mount Vesuvius erupts, prompting Milo to flee back to Pompeii to rescue his love and his best friend, a gladiator trapped in the city's coliseum.
Titanic-style adventure movie anchored with a love story has been written by Lee Batchler and Janet Scott Batchler, which was revised by Julian Fellowes.
No production schedule was given for this period disaster adventure.
Harington most recently starred in Silent Hill: Revelation and will next be seen in WB/Legendary's The Seventh Son. He also voices a more villainous character in DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon 2.
Before he made Resident Evil: Retribution this year, the fifth installment in the Resident Evil franchise, Anderson directed an adaptation of The Three Musketeers, which received very mixed reviews.
