Gerard Butler To Star In POINT BREAK Remake
Chasing Mavericks star Gerard Butler is reportedly in final talks to board Alcon Entertainment's Point Break remake as Bodhi, meaning that if he signed the deal he will be stepping into the legendary shoes of Patrick Swayze.
The role of an FBI Agent named Utah, played to dim-witted perfection by Keanu Reeves in the adrenaline-chasing classic has not yet been cast. Butler's Bodhi will be “an expert extreme sports athlete who also seeks to find nirvana through the conquest of a series of athletic feats such as surfing 100-waves. He saves Utah and brings him into the fold of international criminals.”
Ericson Core, the director of 2006s Invincible, is directing from a script by Kurt Wimmer (Total Recall remake) the new version of the 1991 bank-robbing surfers film.
Butler, who played real-life wave-catcher Frosty Hesson in his earlier surf drama, will be hoping for better luck this time, as the two-wave hold-down nearly ended his life during the filming of Mavericks.
The 44-year-old Scottish film star will next shoot Gods of Egypt and the Olympus sequel London Has Fallen.
No doubt Hollywood continues to remake films without batting an eyelash. Are you excited?
