Javier Bardem has won the Best Supporting Actor for his performance as a restless killer in ‘No Country for Old Men' at the 80th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 24. His win gave the acclaimed crime drama film its first Oscar prize at the prestigious feature film event. The Spanish actor was presented with his kudo by last year's best supporting actress winner Jennifer Hudson. On his acceptance speech, the actor who was romantically linked to Penelope Cruz thanked his mother who is his date for the special night in Spanish:
‘Mamá, esto para ti, para tus abuelos, esto para los cómicos como tú que han puesto la dignidad para España'
after noting the horrible haircut he had and the faith the Coens had in him.

Prior to this win, Bardem has dominated on the category on this awards season as he won most of the prizes he were nominated for his performance in ‘No Country'. The 38-year-old actor had previously nominated for Oscar's best leading actor back in 2001. He was given the nod for his portrayal of Cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas in ‘Before Night Falls'.
