I hope Jay Baruchel knows what he's doing. That guy has just signed on to write two projects!
The first one is an adaptation of the comic book titled Random Acts of Violence, and the other job will be rewriting of Exorcism Diaries.
That's enough for the beginning of this report, but let me say just one thing now – thank God he will be collaborating on both of these projects with his writing partner Jesse Chabot.
Random Acts of Violence, written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray (the duo behind DC Comics' Jonah Hex), is “the blood-soaked story of two comic creators and their ultimate horror character Slasherman creation gone very wrong.
The creators start to see success flowing like a river, but when that river turns bloody and people start dying in the midst of a signing tour, it becomes clear that their creation has taken a life of its own.”
On the other hand, Exorcism Diaries is based on Mark Opasnick's book titled The Real Story Behind the Exorcist and it centers on “…a reporter searching for the truth behind the most famous exorcism in history, but soon discovers that the real-life story is not quite finished.
As a result, she finds herself in harm's way of the same supernatural entity that she is chasing.”
Just in case you're interested to see Baruchel on a big screen, let us remind you that he will next be seen in the hockey comedy Goon, which he co-wrote with Evan Goldberg, as well as in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis and a sequel for How to Train Your Dragon.
