“Public Enemies” which is set for release on July 1, 2009 is based on Brian Burrough's book “Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34.″
It tells the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger – the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover's fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis, and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public.
The movie also stars Channing Tatum who plays outlaw Pretty Boy Floyd, Giovanni Ribisi as Alvin Karpis, Stephen Dorff as Homer Van Meter, Jason Clarke stars as John “Red” Hamilton, David Wenham as Pete Pierpont, Leelee Sobieski as Polly Hamilton, Emilie de Ravin as Anna Patzke, Branka Katic as Anna Sage and Billy Crudup as J. Edgar Hoover.
