Sacha Baron Cohen as Torrente?
Sacha Baron Cohen is quite interested in a Hollywood version of Spanish comedy-action franchise Torrente.
You remember that fat guy, a racist and corrupt cop?
Well, looks that we'll soon have a chance to watch Borat star in the same role!
Created by and starring Spanish comedian Santiago Segura, the films revolve around a character who continues to patrol the neighborhood after being fired from the police force.
The first three installments have topped the box office, and a fourth will soon be released.
As for Cohen, he is currently working on Martin Scorsese's Hugo Cabret before he shoots The Dictator at Paramount.
And, we are just reminding you that the script is being worked on by Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel, former Seinfeld writers who also happen to be already working with Cohen on the above mentioned Dictator.
Here's what guys from Los Angeles Time report:
“A person familiar with the Hollywood version, which is set up at New Line, notes that Cohen has met several times on the movie, and that Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel are now writing the script.”
We'll keep an eye on this project, so stay tuned!
