The Last Airbender Teaser Trailer

The Last Airbender

M. Night Shyamalan‘s “The Last Airbender” teaser trailer has released. Paramount's big screen adaptation stars Noah Ringer, Dev Patel, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Jessica Jade Andres, Aasif Mandvi, Shaun Toub, Cliff Curtis and Keong Sim. Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, “The Last Airbender” is set in a world where human civilization is divided into four nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire. The Fire Nation is waging a ruthless, oppressive war against the other three nations. The film's hero, the reluctant young Aang is the “Last Airbender” — the Avatar who, according to prophecy, has the ability to manipulate all of the elements and bring all the nations together. Aided by a protective teenage Waterbender named Katara and her bull-headed brother Sokka, Aang proceeds on a perilous journey to restore balance to their war-torn world. Jackson Rathbone plays Katara's brother Sokka, and Dev Patel plays Prince Zuko, prince of the Fire Nation. Mandvi is set to play the role of Commander Zhao, an ambitious and hot-tempered Fire Nation commander. Toub is cast as Uncle Iroh, the retired Fire Nation general and devoted surrogate parent to Dev Patel's character Zuko. Curtis is set to play the ruthless ruler Fire Lord Ozai. Keong Sim has been cast in the role of Earthbending Father. Shyamalan is planning to develop a trilogy of Airbender films, with this first one hitting theaters on July 2nd, 2010.

The Dragonball movie is another example–watch the damn anime series which is beloved by fans around the world! Why is there a need to make a live action movie of this? It was already developed in a distinct medium (Japanese animation) and well received in that medium. Enjoy it on DVD and don’t make it a “movie”… urgh.

Just watched the full teaser. Looks great for a teaser. Anyone one who is calling this crap either is not a fan of the show, or not a fan of M. Night Shyamalan.

they ruined the avatar series by making a live movie….i hate avatar now cause the makers fucked up the whole damn series…its just like star wars…first they start with movies…comics…and now anime? ITS THE BEST TO STICK WITH THE FIRST THING!!

The voiceover is horrible. It would have been nice to have the Katara character do the speaking, as is done in the animated series.

You can’t really fit all of the beautiful lessons of Avatar into a 2-3 hour movie. I worry that it’s going to be a lame sock-em-up twisting of the story, to sell angry looking action figures.

The key of the series was that they were happy and funny good people in a bad situation. They were basically good and silly, *and* able to fight when they had to. I hope the movie reflects that.
