Ready for more vampires? Yeah, sure, what the hell… After all, we're already familiar with this project, right? First announced two years ago, Richelle Mead‘s New York Times best-selling book series Vampire Academy is definitely moving forward, and as you already see – now Mark Waters is set to direct the project titled Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters, while Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry and Danila Kozlovski are attached to star in it! So, at this moment we know that Mean Girls helmer Mark Waters will direct the whole thing from a script written by (his brother) Daniel Waters which will center on Rose Hathaway, a seventeen year old girl who has a mental and spiritual bond with her vampire best friend Lissa.
As we mentioned above, the movie will be based on the best-selling young adult book series by Richelle Mead, and just in case you're interested in more details, here's the official description of Mead's work:
The series centers on a strong, yet flawed, 17-year-old female who confronts her world with grit, determination, and lots of moxie. Rose Hathaway is a dhampir, half human/half vampire and guardian of the Moroi, a race of peaceful and magical mortal vampires who can walk in the daylight, survive by feeding off willing blood donors, grow old and die. Hidden deep in the forests of Montana is St. Vladimir's Academy, where Moroi and dhampirs learn to take their place in Moroi society. As for the above mentioned cast – Lucy Fry is attached to play Lissa, a vampire princess who has been on the run but is brought back to St. Vladimir's Academy.
Danila Kozlovski will play Dimitri, who is assigned to guard Lissa and is Rose's love interest. And Rose – well, as you already guess, Zoey Deutch is set to play her.
Susan Montford, Don Murphy, Deepak Nayer and Michael Preger will produce with Stuart Ford executive producing, and Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters should start shooting this summer.
