Marvel has taken the opportunity and is reportedly moving
Ant-Man's release date up two weeks from July 31th, 2015 to July 17th, 2015. Warner Bros. decided last week to delay their highly-anticipated
superhero movie,
Batman vs. Superman to a date that Marvel Studios had previously announced an untitled Marvel project (May 6th, 2016), which many believe is
Doctor Strange.
Now
Edgar Wright‘s upcoming film will face off against Warners'
Pan, which last month was moved to fill the Superman-Batman old date.
Paul Rudd and
Michael Douglas star as Scott Lang and Hank Pym with
Michael Pena and
Clifton Collins Jr. also
being eyed for roles in the Marvel pic, in addition to a female lead that has yet to be cast.
The story begins in the early 1960s, with Hank Pym working as a spy fighting communism and then moves to a present-day Pym ( Douglas), who, in the comic books created the original Ant-Man equipment, where Scott Lang's character is introduced. Pena is rumored to be playing a villain named Castillo, who doesn't originate in the comic books, but is said to be a variation on Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.
Expect more news to come out in the coming weeks.
