Garrett Hedlund Playing Hook In Joe Wright’s PAN
Tron: Legacy star Garrett Hedlund reportedly has been offered the role of Captain Hook in director Joe Wright‘s Pan, a new filmic take on J.M. Barrie's classic character, Peter Pan.
There were also Jack Huston (American Hustle) and Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) in the running for don Hook's costume in 2015.
Hugh Jackman entered negotiations to play Blackbeard, after Javier Bardem passed on the iconic character. There's no Pan yet, which character is between 10 and 12 years old.
The origin story written by Jason Fuchs, centers on how Pan and the man who becomes Captain Hook start out as friends, with Hook working as a member of the crew on Blackbeard's pirate ship.
Pan is set in World War II and Warner Bros. dated the film for July 17th, 2015. The studio sees it as a franchise that can appeal to the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings fanbase.
Hedlund most recently starred in On the Road and Inside Llewyn Davis and plays a big role in the Angelina Jolie-directed Unbroken for Universal Pictures.
