Cate Blanchett in HBO Adaptation of CANCER VIXEN

Cate Blanchett Here's an interesting casting news. Cate Blanchett is reportedly set to executive produce and star in an upcoming HBO's adaptation of Marisa Acocella Marchetto's graphic novel Cancer Vixen. Not hard to guess that the movie will deal with a serious health problem, and at this moment the only thing we can say is that Blanchett definitely sounds like a perfect choice! Head inside to find more details about the story… “What happens when a shoe-crazy, lipstick-obsessed, pasta-slurping, fashion-fanatic, madly-in-love, about-to-get married, big-city-girl cartoonist with a fabulous life finds . . . a lump in her breast?” – that's what Marisa Acocella Marchetto's memoir “Cancer Vixen: A True Story” is all about. In other words – Marchetto, a cartoonist, was planning her wedding when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and her book tells the story of her 11-month battle with the disease. As we mentioned at the beginning, Blanchett sounds like a perfect actress for the role. At least for us. I mean, we're talking about the Oscar-winning lady after all. The good thing is that she will also be an executive producer on the project alongside Maven Pictures partners Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray, and according to the latest reports, they are meeting with writers to adapt the material. Which means – we'll pretty soon have more updates on this project. Stay tuned!
