Doug Liman wants Russell Crowe in Valerie Plame film

Russell Crowe Doug Liman, who has already cast Nicole Kidman as the film's lead, wants Russell Crowe to play Plame's husband Joseph Wilson. Liman has revealed that he is lining up Russell Crowe to star in a film about outed CIA spy Valerie Plame. Plame was outed as a spy by The Washington Post in 2003 and forced to quit the CIA. Liman described the incident as “the lowpoint in American history”. “I'd love Russell Crowe. If you've met Joe, he's a really strong guy. I've never met an actor stronger than Russell Crowe” Liman says. Liman originally had Crowe in mind to star in the Jason Bourne action series and admitted that the actor has an intimidating presence. “I met with him for The Bourne Identity and I was terrified,” he said. “The whole time I was in the room with him I was just scared of him. This is a scary dude! Joe is kind of like that.”
