Once upon a time, I had a huge crash on
Jean-Claude Van Damme. You know, it was that
Universal Soldier year and we were all like – look, Van Damme is naked and you can stick the knife in his perfect legs, and watch his gorgeous butt for hours.
Yeah, yeah, it's funny now, but back then, in 1992, it was so amazing to watch a naked guy in a bath full of ice.
Then I grew up, Van Damme became boring and old, and by the way Colin Farrell showed up…
But still, I guess that first love never dies, so this report is actually some kind of a tribute to all those stupid movies Van Damme ever made. With wish that the upcoming project titled
UFO will be something worth my attention.
Surprise, surprise! When you see something with this kind of title, you obviously guess that I'm here to talk about the sci-fi project. And of course, you're all wondering what the hell Jean-Claude Van Damme has to do with a sci-fi movie?
Well, according to the latest reports, he's set to play the role of a retired military advisor. Military? Ok, now we all get it!
But what's very interesting about this project is the fact that the movie will follow five friends who wake up on a seemingly normal morning to find the power's out, there's no mobile phone reception and the radio can tune nothing but static.
Two nights later a city-sized UFO appears above the town as tension and fear of attack grips the five. Wait, that's not actually the interesting part, but who cares anyway?
UFO comes from
Dominic Burns who will direct from his own script, and Van Damme will have some cool company, because movie also stars
Bianca Bree, Sean Brosnan and
Simon Phillips.
The whole thing is currently shooting in Derbyshire, England, so I guess that a 2012 release is a logical date.
So, let's give them a chance. After all, director Burns described the movie as “Independence Day meets Monsters, told from the point of view of Signs”.
I guess he's just too excited about the whole thing or something like that…
