Hey there, Kick Ass fans, are you ready for the sequel? Of course you are, so make sure to check this out – Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall starts shooting this summer!
And that's exactly what Mark Millar revealed adding that director Matthew Vaughn will be back for the whole thing again, but – only as a producer this time.
When asked about the inspiration for the second film, Millar said:
“It's really odd. I watch the films and think, my God, that's what happened to me!” Then he added:
“It is done subconsciously. Even daft things, like at school there was somebody I fancied who really liked Dynasty. I started watching it so that I could chat to her about it. That is in Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall. I gave Kick-Ass's parents the same names as my parents. My dad and I were living alone together after my mum died when I was 14 and that's reflected in Kick-Ass. I grew up wanting to be a superhero. You find a lot of these things turn out to be autobiographical.”
Well, we're definitely excited about the sequel! As you already know, the original Kick Ass followed high school Dave Lizewski, a comic book fan who one day decides to become a super-hero, even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so.
Unfortunately, at this moment the project is still without a director, and we also have no idea if the original cast will return, but as usual – we'll keep you updated!
