Earlier this month we saw the first red-band trailer for director Jeff Wadlow‘s sequel Kick-Ass 2 and now Universal has released a brand new trailer that focuses on Mindy Macready (Chloë Moretz) and her struggles to fit in at high school.
Well, it looks like the skills of her alter ego will certainly help in finding a place among her teenage peers. We also get some time with Mindy's new guardian Sergeant Marcus Williams (Morris Chestnut).
Kick-Ass 2 picks up the story from the original as Kick-Ass Dave (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Hit Girl Mindy's (Moretz) campaign has inspired a wave of self-made masked crusaders. Dave creates a superhero team called Justice Forever alongside the crazy Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey). But when Mindy is busted as Hit Girl and forced to retire so she can go back to school, Dave must face the terrifying vengeance of Red Mist, who has restyled himself as The Motherf*cker and formed his own league of villains.
The follow-up to 2010s original drew criticism because it featured Moretz as a pre-pubescent girl who kills grown men and curses up a storm.
There's a July 19th release set for the UK, ahead of a release date set for August 16th, 2013 in the U.S.
