Yes, this is definitely something huge. But, that’s no surprise when Steven Spielberg‘s name is involved in some Hollywood report, right?
So, we’re here today to announce the full cast list for his upcoming World War I epic War Horse. How about these names: Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson, Peter Mullan, David Thewlis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Stephen Graham and Tom Hiddleston.

By now we all know that Steven Spielberg is back with his next project, movie titled War Horse, a World War I novel written by Michael Morpurgo.
The film tells the tale of a friendship between a boy and a horse which is taken away to fight in World War I. This is how the story sounds: “At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France.
He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary odyssey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to the trenches to find him and bring him home.”
So, let’s get back to casting news! Taking the lead is young actor Jeremy Irvine, who has landed the lead role of Albert, with Emily Watson and Peter Mullan playing his parents. David Thewlis (Harry Potter) will play Lyons, Benedict Cumberbatch (Atonement) and Stephen Graham (Pirates of the Caribbean 4) will play British military characters.
On the other hand, Tom Hiddleston is negotiating to play Captain Nichols, while Celine Buckens and Niels Arestrup play a French girl and her grandfather who encounter Albert. David Kross, Patrick Kennedy, Rainer Bock, Nicolas Bro, Leonar Carow and Robert Emmms are also in the cast. Good enough? Yeah, we think so…
Spielberg is producing with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Revel Guest and we already had a chance to hear his opinion about this project:
“From the moment I read Michael Morpurgo’s novel War Horse I knew this was a film I wanted DreamWorks to make. Its heart and its message provide a story that can be felt in every country.”
The film adaptation will be released on August 10th, 2011 and at this moment we know that screenwriters Lee Hall and Richard Curtisare adapting the book and play for the big screen.
