Rob Marshall Signs On For Thin Man Starring Johnny Depp
Few months ago we had a little chat about The Thin Man adaptation, when we wrote that Rob Marshall is in talks to direct the whole thing, with Johnny Depp on board to star.
Well, now we’re here to report that’s actually going to happen, because Marshall and John DeLuca have officially signed on to the Warner Bros. planned remake of the Oscar-Nominated 1934 film starring William Powell and Myrna Loy.
In case you have no idea what we’re talking about, here’s a little description:
“Nick and Nora Charles, accompanied by their schnauzer, Asta, are lounging in their suite at the Normandie in New York City for the Christmas holiday, enjoying the prerogatives of wealth: meals delivered at any hour, theater openings, taxi rides at dawn, rubbing elbows with the gangster element in speakeasies.

Walt Disney Pictures has released a brand new character poster for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides featuring newbie lovers Philip Swift (Sam Claflin) and the mermaid Syrena (Astrid Berges-Frisbey)
Philip Swift Character Description: Idealistic, courageous and fearless, this missionary defies even Blackbeard in an attempt to rescue the terrible pirate’s soul.
New Pirates 4 Poster: Syrena
Here’s the new character poster for the upcoming , Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which features Astrid Berges-Frisbey as the mermaid Syrena.
Syrena Character Description: A beautiful, enigmatic mermaid who swims against the tide of her more lethally-minded sisters of the sea. Mystery surrounds the mermaid Syrena, even down to her true name, for “Syrena” is only what she’s called by missionary Philip Swift during her captivity by Blackbeard. After her fellow mermaids attack Blackbeard’s crew at Whitecap Bay, Syrena and Philip begin to recognize a quality in each other that draws them together, allowing them to become allies against a common enemy in Blackbeard. Each discover more of their true beings, but risk their lives when they listen to the sounds of their hearts.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at Cannes Film Festival 2011
Just in case you’re planning to visit Cannes this May, we recommend you to check out Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth installment in the Disney franchise that will play at the fest May 14 (if you don’t check it out on May 7 at Disneyland which is film’s world premiere).
Yeah, you read that correctly, and, although nothing is official at the moment, the French daily Le Figaro is reporting that’s actually going to happen.

Jerry Stahl Will Write The Thin Man For Johnny Depp
Another remake is coming, but this time we’re here to talk about The Thin Man. I’m sure you remember the 1934 film that was adapted from the novel by Dashiell Hammett that follows private detective Nick Charles and his charming wife Nora as they’re drawn into investigating a murder.
In this new version, we’ll have a chance to watch Johnny Depp in the leading role, and quite interesting team is behind the project.
According to the latest reports, screenwriter and author Jerry Stahl has been tapped to pen the screenplay for the remake of The Thin Man while Rob Marshall (Chicago) is in negotiations to direct the remake. On the other hand, Depp will produce the film with his Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski.
