Just a quick update on Lakeshore's (long-planned) movie
The Vatican Tapes! We've just learned that
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance helmer
Mark Neveldine is now set to direct the whole thing. In other words – the project is definitely coming, but when exactly – we have no idea. Still, the most important thing in this moment is that folks from
Lakeshore Entertainment are quite serious about the movie!
First announced in 2009,
The Vatican Tapes story comes from
Chris Borrelli who wrote the script based on a story by Borrelli and
Chris Morgan. Back then
Man on a Wire helmer
James Marsh was attached to direct it.
Now,
Variety reports that Neveldine is on board to finally bring this supernatural story to a big screen. In case you're not so familiar with the plot, the movie will center on a series of events that unfold after a tape gets leaked from the Vatican, displaying an exorcism that goes wrong.
Said to be in the vein of
The Exorcist and
Rosemary's Baby,
The Vatican Tapes also marks Neveldine's first solo directing gig.
Stay tuned for more updates!
