Terry Zwigoff is set to direct, and
Nicolas Cage is attached to star in an upcoming indie drama titled
Lost Melody. Yep, an indie drama, where Cage will play a man who's stuck in a bad marriage and (like that's not enough) falls in love with a prostitute.
Shocking news?
Whatever. At this moment we know that Zwigoff will direct the whole thing from a script he co-wrote with
Melissa Axelrod, which centers on:
…a man who's trapped in a marriage to a shrewish wife and falls in love with a prostitute.
And that's bascially all we know about the plot.
Still, what definitely sounds promising is that
Edward R. Pressman (who's set to produce the project) said that
Lost Melody is a wonderful darkly-funny drama in the tradition of such classics as
The Blue Angel and
Sunset Boulevard.
The big question now is – who will come on board to play Cage's wife, and more importantly – who will play the above mentioned prostitute?
