Lego Movie Details
So, we already had a chance to hear that Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are in charge for directing Warner Bros’ Lego movie, which is kind of perfect choice, since they make such a good and creative team together.
And, we also know that they “impressed both WB and Lego execs”, or, at least, that was a rumor couple of days ago.
But, today we’re here to share some interesting details that Phil Lord revealed in an interview for Collider.
“I don’t know how we’re exactly going to execute it, but I would say the vast majority of the film takes place in an immersive all-Lego environment.” – Lord said, and continued: “So it’s going to star mini-figs and we’ve created these really cool characters and a really nice character story between these mini-figs. And it’s going to take place in a universe that’s made entirely out of Lego to the point where if there’s water or clouds or like a big explosion, that will be made out of animated Legos.
And our goal was to make it look like a super charged stop-motion. Something like if Michael Bay kidnapped Henry Selick to make a movie for him. We found a way to incorporate all of those worlds into having one uber world basically so that we can include all those kind of classic set pieces that you’re used to seeing. We always sparked to the idea that you could make a super large scale brick film. Have you seen those brick films online?
Phil Lord and Chris Miller to Direct Lego Movie
LEGO toys are getting a movie. Ok, before you start with that who cares attitude check this out!
Phil Lord and Chris Miller who directed Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs are currently in final negotiations to direct the Lego movie after impressing both WB and LEGO execs.
Looks like there was some great presentation that convinced all of them to actually invest in something like this. So, get ready for big-screen-toys!
And, of course, the plot is being kept under wraps, but there are some rumors describing it as “an action adventure in the Lego world mixing live action and animation.” And that’s it.
The only thing we do know about this project is that Lord and Miller had to run “an impressive gauntlet of both WB and LEGO executives before they could secure the gig.
First “Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs” Clip
The first clip from 3D animated “Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs” has hit the web. The movie actually is the follow-up to “Surf’s Up” from a few years ago, which is co-directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
The screenplay co-written by both Lord and Miller is inspired by the children’s book, written by author Judi Barrett and illustrated by Ron Barrett, of the same name.
