Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at Cannes Film Festival 2011
Just in case you’re planning to visit Cannes this May, we recommend you to check out Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth installment in the Disney franchise that will play at the fest May 14 (if you don’t check it out on May 7 at Disneyland which is film’s world premiere).
Yeah, you read that correctly, and, although nothing is official at the moment, the French daily Le Figaro is reporting that’s actually going to happen.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Set Visit
All Pirates of the Caribbean fans out there – we have some great news for you!
Actually, it’s going to be an update from some interviews that lucky guys from Slash and Collider (who were at the London set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) managed to get from writer Terry Rossio, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and the rest of the Pirates team.
You already know that Terry Rossio (along with his writing partner Ted Eliott) has written all four ‘Pirates’ movies, but now, he admitted that “one thing that is consistent is the need for reinvention” when it comes to approaching a new installment. He explained:
“Fans want a really immersive story, they want a complex story, they want more character stuff. They want their most beloved characters to all have important moments, and that’s what led us to, in the trilogy, doing the sort of tapestry, interwoven, multiple redundant stories because the fans were just really eating it up and really enjoying it.”
Rossio also said that: “The key to Jack Sparrow is that he’s the trickster, so he is an archetypal character. That type of character doesn’t show up in American cinema that much. You go to Bugs Bunny to get the classic kind of tricksters. And the key to the trickster character is that that character is environmentally based.
Jack Sparrow is not that good at not getting caught for example, you can catch him. He’s caught all the time, the thing is that you can’t hang on to him because what he does is, he starts tap dancing, and he starts blowing smoke and he starts talking circles around you. And what he’s doing it, is he’s looking for the opportunity because the ultimate thing about Jack Sparrow is he has faith and conviction in himself that the world is going to turn his way eventually.
Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Featurette and Three New Photos
Today we have a brand new featurette and three new photos from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The video concerns the sequel’s characters and features interviews with the cast, director Rob Marshall and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
Synopsis: Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed adventure. Crossing paths with the enigmatic Angelica (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth.
Terry Rossio To Script Pirates of the Caribbean 5
Here’s something shocking! Guys from Disney studio have closed a deal with Terry Rossio to write the script for Pirates of the Caribbean 5!
Wow, we’re all surprised (not!), Rossio has (by now) co-written all of the Pirates films!
Only, this time, he’s going to be alone in some new adventure because his writing partner Ted Elliott is not in the game (we have no idea why!).
Disney are also interested in bringing On Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall back, and, according to some reports, Johnny Depp “has a deal structure to return for a fifth film that will clearly be drawn up for him to reprise Jack Sparrow, though it’s too early to consider him locked.”
The Most Anticipated Movies of 2011
Cinema enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to, as there is a wide range of the Most Anticipated Movies of 2011. Some of these may turn out being 2011 blockbuster films, the others may finish up as 2011 box-office bombs. Either way, it looks as though there are plenty of projects to be excited about. If a movie is based on a piece of material that has already been successful, audiences know what to expect, and there’s likely already a built-in fan base.
That’s why studios love sequels, remakes and adaptations. So it makes sense that those movies dominate our list of the Most Anticipated Movies of 2011. These are the movies that could make or break studios and stars next year. But remember, high hopes don’t always pan out.
