Cinema Blend is reporting that Rachel Weisz is being considered to play the lead villain in James Bond 23.
Weisz (The Constant Gardener, Mummy, Constantine) – currently filming the thriller Dream House with 007 himself, Daniel Craig – admitted that she would love to be a Bond girl.
Freida Pinto Is The Next Bond Girl
Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) has signed up to be Bond girl in the 23rd James Bond movie, according to UK’s Daily Mirror.
The 24-year-old actress will be seen alongside Daniel Craig in the upcoming 007 movie, which is to be directed by Sam Mendes and will be set in Afghanistan.
It will be a typically glamorous and raunchy role and Dev Patel (her offscreen lover) has been joking to friends he is cool with seeing Freida rolling around with 007.
Meanwhile, Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy, House) is reportedly in talks to star as the second Bond girl in the 23rd outing of the spy franchise.
Sam Mendes to Direct Next James Bond Film
MGM has announced (via The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog) that Oscar winning director Sam Mendes is in negotiations to direct the upcoming 23rd James Bond movie.
The site reports production is being fast-tracked and could begin as early as June with an eye toward a 2011 release. Writers Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and Peter Morgan, and producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are still attached in their respective roles.

It has been announced that Sam Mendes’ latest movie will open Edinburgh Film Festival which runs from June 17- 29, 2009.
Mendes’ (“Road to Perdition,”"Jarhead,”"Revolutionary Road” and Oscar-winning “American Beauty”) road-trip comedy “Away We Go” will be the Opening Gala at this year’s festival.
