Press release has finally confirmed – Relativity Media has closed deals with Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Zoe Saldana and Sam Shepard to take lead roles in the upcoming drama currently titled Out of the Furnace, written and directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart).
The story follows a man named Russel Baze (Bale), who, after being released from serving years in prison for murder, only wants to fulfill his promise to his girlfriend Lena (Saldana) and marry her (aaaaw!). But… once he learns that his brother Rodney (Affleck) was killed after getting involved in some gambling racket, his path changes to one of revenge.
After lots of ruckus and rumors about Robert Duvall taking role of the brothers' uncle Red and Ridley Scott directing the film, it will finally begin shooting later this month, helmed by the aforementioned Cooper with Scott ‘merely' producing it along with Leonardo DiCaprio via their respective production companies.
I am set to see it once it premiers since I love Bale and Affleck is becoming quite a fine young actor – quoting Tucker Tooley, Relativity Media's Co-President, “this is a meaty script with characters as strong as they are complex, and we needed powerhouse actors who complement the story. Christian, Casey, Zoe and Sam each approach everything they do with heart and conviction. We can't wait to see what each of them brings to this film.”
