DUNE Movie Has A New Writer
Despite a director change from Peter Berg to Pierre Morel (Taken, From Paris with Love) earlier this year, Universal Pictures' planned remake of “Dune” is moving forward.
Now comes word that Morel has brought on newcomer Chase Palmer (Number Thirteen, Wild Wild East, The Dallas Buyer's Club) to write the script that will stick very close to the source material, which is Frank Herbert's Classic 1965 sci-fi novel. David Lynch turned the first novel into a feature for Universal in 1984.
The original tome is about an intergalactic struggle to control the supply of a valuable spice found only on the remote desert planet Arrakis.
Kevin Misher and Richard Rubinstein are producing the new Paramount version, which they hope will spark a franchise.
